Scilly Isles, England

The Isles of Scilly are a frequent vacation spot for Prince Charles, and the warm air and the abundant semitropical plants make it easy to see why. According to Celtic legend, the isles were inhabited entirely by holy men, and more ancient burial mounds can be found here than anywhere else in southern England. Make the visit to Tresco for the amazing Abbey Gardens, with more than 5,000 species of plants from 100 different countries. Valhalla, a collection of nearly 60 figureheads from ships wrecked around the islands, is a particularly intriguing feature.
